Hot Wheels Bone Shaker Apology Car 2006 – Incredibly Rare

This 2006 Bone Shaker™ apology car in incredibly rare. Comes with the letter from Hot Wheels®.

The letter is dated March 27, 2006 and reads:

Dear HWC member:

You are receiving this letter and this vehicle from us because you placed an order for the 2005 Hot Wheels Factory-Sealed Set last year. After we received numerous complaints about cars missing or damaged in these sets we realized that action needed to be taken on our part to rectify the situation. Although we know that the first choice of all collectors was to “re-make” the sets, we found that this was simply not feasible due to the fact that these cars had been produced over a period of eight months and new cars were already well into production. After several meetings with the senior management at our plant we confirmed that despite our efforts the quality control procedures were not followed in assembling these sets.  We are putting into place numerous double and triple checks so that a situation like this can never happen again.

What we did offer members like you was either a full refund (including shipping costs) or we offered to find and replace the missing and/or damaged cars. We realize that many people wee not satisfied with these options, but they were truly the best we could execute.

As soon as this situation was brought to light we decided that it would be appropriate to create a special “apology car” for members affected by this situation. However, we felt like we wanted this to be received as a gift beyond our offer of a full refund or replacement of the missing/damaged cars so we decided that this would be a surprise. At the same time, we recognized that we also had quality issues with the 2005 Treasure Hunt sets and so we decided that the members who ordered this set should also get of of these “apology cars”, however, to make the Factory-Sealed Set cars slightly different we included the 2005 Factory-Sealed Set sticker on the blister card.

It is worth noting that everybody who ordered one of these sets, regardless of whether he or she returned it, had cars replaced, or did nothing at all is receiving this special “apology car”. We did not want to punish anyone for making the decision to return the set as this was our mistake and not theirs.

Please accept this car as a sincere apology from your friends at Mattel. We take very seriously our role in providing the highest quality die-cast products to you, and we were as disappointed as you were that this situation ever occurred. Please know that we will do all that we can to insure that nothing like this every happens again. We value you as a customer and want to earn back your trust.
